Nodular Acne
Nodular acne is a inflammatory lesion. It’s a severe type of acne vulgaris. Nodular acne mainly consists of pimples that are much bigger–even bigger than papules(measuring the size of pencil erasers)–and may be painful, lasting for months.
Nodules can grow hermorrhagic or suppurative, and generally show up as hard, large bumps beneath the skin’s surface. In a case of severe nodular ace, they may develop as tender, red, swollen bumps in the skin.
You should never try to squeeze or pop a nodular lesion, for squeezing or popping such a lesion can cause major injury to the skin at its base. If squeezed, the nodular acne lesion can last for more months than it would normally, if you had not touched it. Permanent scarring often occurs when nodular acne is left untreated or the nodules are squeezed.
You may wonder what causes nodular acne. Listed below are the possible causes:
1. Hormones are thought by many to be the number one cause of acne. This would explain why the majority of acne sufferers are adolescents. Hormones are one of the main causes of acne flare-ups during the times of menstruation. Many women have an improvement in their acne during pregnancy.
2. Birth Control Pills – Starting to take or stopping birth control pills may cause acne.
3. Stress - May cause the production of hormones like cortisol, which can worsen an acne condition. Stress affects different hormone levels in the body. When these hormone levels change the body commands the skins oil glands to expand, and which then secrete extra oil. This chain of events may cause pimples and nodules to form in those who have acne.
4. Oily or heavy make up – Heavy make-up can clog pores and oily makeups add additional oil that acne doesn’t need. Cosmetics to avoid are certain moisturizers, pomades, particularly the ones carrying petrolatum, oleic acid, vegetable oils, lanolin, butyl stearate, and lauryl alcohol.
5. Drugs such lithium is thought to cause or worsen acne.
6. Improper Diet - A diet that is high in refined carbohydrates and sugars can worsen acne for some people.
7. Over-Abrasive Cleansing - Harsh exfoliators can harm your skin and spread infections.

There are so many who just really try and test what you think might work for you. the skin of each is different and will react to different products in different ways. I like to stick to natural products, but I have many friends with great skin, which only go to the local pharmacy and buy things there. Unfortunately, I could not help

Instead of vilifying food companies and McDonalds, maybe the parents should take a little more responsibility. Junk in moderation, but make them eat healthy stuff too. And for crying out loud, get their lazy butts off the couch and make them go out and ride a bike or something!!
